Steph Curry and his wife Ayesha Curry met with Men's US Open champion Jannik Sinner after the Italian tennis player defeated American Taylor Fritz, 6-3, 6-4 and 7-5. The X, formerly known as Twitter, account of the US Open tournament uploaded video of the four-time NBA champion meeting the Grand Slam winner.
In the video, Steph Curry is seen greeting Sinner with a hug. After the hug, the newly-minted champion congratulated the Golden State Warriors star for winning the gold medal with the US men's national team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Curry then congratulated Sinner for his big win on Sunday.
After the short interaction, the Warriors star asked Sinner to sign the tennis-inspired basketball he in his hands. Sinner gladly accepted and signed the ball. Curry's wife was standing out of frame as her voice can be heard at the end of the interaction. Later on, the Warriors star and his wife met the finalists of the Women's US Open tournament.
They meet Jessica Peluga and had a quick interaction with her where Steph introduces her to Ayesha. Later, she signs a basketball-sized tennis ball for them. The couple next meet with Belurasian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka. Both Steph and Ayesha pose for a photograph with her.
Later in the video, the couple are gifted a personalized tennis racket with Curry's brand logo. The Warriors star tried swinging it and raised it above his head to have a look at the logo.
Jessica Pegula revealed a hilarious incident her husband had with Steph Curry
Jessic Pegula lost the US Open women's final to Aryna Sabalenka, 7-5, 7-5. The American tennis star attended the post-game press conference to discuss the game. However, while answering a question, she talked about a hilarious incident involving her husband Taylor Gahagen and the Warriors star.
She revealed that her husband was a big Steph Curry fan and has been following the star since his NCAA days.
"My husband, his iPhone name is Steph Curry. He loves Steph Curry,” she explained. “So like, if you connect to Bluetooth or like send him something on Airdrop, it’s Steph Curry’s iPhone," Pegula said.
She also said that when the two of them met, her husband revealed that he used Curry's name as his iPhone name.
"He texted me and he was so excited, he didn’t want to say anything, and I was like, ‘Please tell me you did not tell him about the iPhone thing,’” Pegula explained. “And he was like, ‘Oh yeah, I did"
She said that Steph loved the display of fandom and even asked Gahagen to show it to his wife Ayesha. The Warriors star is currently enjoying the offseason and will be back in action on the court on Oct. 23 to take on the Blazers in the first game of the season.
