Watch: Steph Curry goes undercover to surprise kids inside Warriors Shop
Steph Curry is currently out with an injury, but that did not prevent the Golden State Warriors superstar from making people smile. Curry went undercover to surprise a handful of Bay Area kids inside the Warriors Shop at Thrive City.
According to Brett Siegel of Sports Illustrated, Curry's foundation Eat. Learn. Play. teamed up with Rakuten to give the kids from East Oakland's Black Cultural Zone a memorable time. The reigning Finals MVP used a hat, fake wig and face mask as a disguise while working the counter.
Curry was given the name Larry, but parents quickly realized that they were dealing with a Warriors legend. He took off his disguise and went to greet the kids inside the store. All the kids were given a $250 gift card to buy all kinds of Warriors items, ranging from jerseys to shoes.
Here's the video:
Steph Curry discussed the philantrophic event with Chris Alvarez of ABC7 News, where he said that he was very happy to interact with the kids and give them a lifetime memory. He also hopes to do similar stuff in the future, given his and the team's partnership with Rakuten.
"Just being here and being in person and interacting with the kids like we all had times when we were growing up that whether it was somebody spending a little bit of time or giving an encouraging word or something that sticks with you," Curry said. "Hopefully, something like that happens through those interactions and you find amazing ways to do it."
One of the lucky kids inside the Warriors shop revealed to Sports Illustrated what it felt like to meet Steph Curry.
"My heart just stopped for a minute," the kid said. "I was like, 'Wow!' I was completely in shock. It was just shocking for me."

Steph Curry injury update
Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors has not played since suffering a left leg injury on Feb. 4 against the Dallas Mavericks. Curry was later diagnosed with partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane. He also suffered a lower left leg contusion.
The Warriors had revealed last week that the four-time NBA champ was making good progress in recovery. Curry has already started shooting and working on non-contact drills. He's expected to be re-evaluated on Wednesday (Mar. 1), and Golden State surely cannot wait for his return.
The defending champions are making progress without Curry, especially after the All-Star break. They were blown out by the LA Lakers to start the final leg of the season but have now won three straight games to climb up to fifth spot in the Western Conference.
