Team USA fans gave Steph Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant a rousing reception when the trio reached the team hotel after their 95-91 win over Serbia. Curry and James were the architects of the win that propelled them to the Finals vs France on Saturday, and the trio was met with a wholesome welcome after the tough game.
Curry was seen in a blue tee and waving at fans, while James and Durant acknowledged the cheers that came their way. The likes of Anthony Edwards, Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, and Derrick White all had applause as well.
Curry lit up the Bercy Arena with a 36-point outburst, shooting 9-14 from the deep. James had a triple-double with 16 points, 12 boards, and 10 assists. Joel Embiid shrugged off a poor tournament so far with a solid 19-point game, while Durant came off the bench for nine points.
It was a tense finish for the USA to overcome a 17-point deficit as Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanović kept Serbia in the game. James and Curry came alive in the clutch to help the team maintain their slim lead and end with a close win. The celebration between the two showed it all once the final buzzer rang.
Kevin Durant had high praise for Steph Curry after Team USA's win
After Team USA's 17-point comeback rally win against Serbia, Kevin Durant had high praise for Steph Curry's heroics when addressing the media.
"That was a godlike performance. That was tough because he felt like he was struggling throughout the whole tournament. And we always said each night it could be somebody different. And tonight, he showed up."
Durant's praise also shows how important the win was for the three veterans, who in all probability are playing their last Olympics. James will be well over 40, while Curry and Durant are already hitting the 35 mark. This will be their chance to sign off with another medal, which will also be Steph Curry's first in his storied career.
