Watch: Steph Curry nails a triple for his first Olympics bucket

Despite being one of the greatest basketball players ever, this is Steph Curry’s debut in the Olympics. He previously had to stay out of the competition because of injuries sustained during the long NBA season.

Even though the wait was long, Curry finally made his Olympic debut on Sunday against Nikola Jokic and the Serbians. The Golden State Warriors guard’s first made basket was a 3-pointer.

Here’s a look at the basket:

Team USA started the game down 10-2 and had to go for a quick timeout. Steph Curry made the shot after the game restarted, thus adding another chapter to his long illustrious career.

The toughness of the shot should be applauded as well. Curry had almost no room as he dribbled the ball outside the perimeter after getting a pass from LeBron James. When Curry let the ball go, it seemed like a tough shot but it touched nothing but the net.

Team USA ended the first quarter up 25-20.

Steph Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant recreated iconic photo from 1992

Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and LeBron James are arguably the best players in the NBA in the past 15 years. They have seven MVPs between them and 10 NBA titles. So, when the three were named in the team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, fans compared them to Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird from 1992.

The comparison was not lost to the current players as well, as Curry told ESPN's Marc J. Spears earlier in the week that the trio had created an iconic photo from 1992 featuring Jordan, Bird and Magic. Fans waited in anticipation for the photo. It was finally shared by Team USA Basketball on social media with the caption:

"A Generational Trio"

While it hasn't been confirmed that this was the picture that Curry was talking about, it seems to be the one in all likelihood. It has one key difference from the original photo, though.

The original picture had Jordan sitting in the middle, with Bird and Magic standing to his right and left, respectively. In the 2024 photo, all the three players are seen standing.
