Watch: Steph Curry's modesty triggers jaw-drop reaction from fan at his book event
Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has introduced a new book, titled “Sports Superheroes,” and during one of the promotional events for the book, he shared a touching moment with a young fan. This offseason, Steph Curry is promoting the graphic novel, authored by Josh Bycel and Rich Korson with illustrations from Damion Scott, which chronicles his journey in the world of basketball.
In a video posted by the NBA's official X account, a fan at a book-signing event was thrilled to be in the presence of the NBA star and asked for his autograph.
"That's like the best point guard of all time, man," the fan uttered, before Curry called him up and asked for his name.
The young fan then requested Curry to sign the Curry jersey he was wearing, and Curry happily obliged.

The description of the Warriors star's new book highlights it as "a thrilling graphic novel about Steph Curry's underdog story and meteoric rise to becoming one of the greatest basketball players of all time."
Before this graphic novel, Curry had published two children's books, both carrying inspiring messages—the first titled “I Have a Superpower” and the second, “I Am Extraordinary.”
The first book aims to inspire young readers to discover their own unique superpower, while the second, which tells the story of a young girl who is self-conscious about her hearing aids, encourages kids to embrace the differences that make them extraordinary.
Steph Curry and wife Ayesha pledge $25 million to promote student literacy in Oakland
Steph Curry and his wife Ayesha have pledged $25 million over the next five years toward literacy programs in Oakland, which will provide one-on-one tutoring for children who are at least two grade levels behind in reading.
The literacy initiative will focus on improving reading and writing skills for students in the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), according to the Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation, which the couple founded.
“This will provide approximately 10,000 tutoring spots for elementary school students who are significantly behind in reading, with the support and programs they need to thrive,” the foundation said.
Last September, Eat. Learn. Play. launched a new campaign aimed at raising and investing $50 million in additional support and resources for Oakland students by the end of the 2025-26 school year.
The foundation said literacy is a cause close to the couple’s hearts, noting that in Oakland, nearly half of all elementary students are performing below grade level, with many lagging by two or more grade levels.
“This commitment is about more than just closing the literacy gap—it’s about giving these kids the confidence to succeed in all areas of life,” the foundation quoted the couple as saying.
“We’ve seen firsthand the impact this level of tutoring support can have on a child’s development, and it is our hope that we can work to close the literacy gap and encourage reading for a generation of students.”
Aside from literacy, Eat. Learn. Play has also provided meals, renovated schoolyards, and created a mobile resource center for students in the Oakland area.
