"We have some beef" - Shaquille O'Neal responds to Marlon Wayans' diss in latest special

NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal recently had veteran standup comedian Marlon Wayans on The Big Podcast this week, where the two discussed a number of topics.

From their respective acting careers to basketball, no topic was off limits for the two in the 46-minute-long show. At one point, the conversation shifted to Wayans' latest special.

Released earlier this summer on Jun. 4, Wayans' Good Grief comedy special saw him discuss a slew of topics, from his career to the deaths of his parents. At one point during the special, Wayans cracked jokes Shaquille O'Neal.

During Wayans' appearance on the Hall of Famer's show, O'Neal joked that the pair have known each other for 20-30 years, but because of the joke, they have beef. Shaquille O'Neal then passed Wayans a can of Liquid Death sparkling water, telling the comedian and actor to drink it.

"We've been friends for what, 20, 30 years? But we have some beef. ... I don't have a problem, but I saw your special and I saw what you said about me... and it was funny! So, I have something for you too. Want you to drink this. Go ahead, drink it. ...
"I just want to even the score."

Marlon Wayans opens up about Kobe Bryant telling him to stop making fun of teammate during Shaquille O'Neal podcast

Marlon Wayans' new special may have seen him crack jokes at the expense of NBA legends such as Shaquille O'Neal and Magic Johnson. However, that wasn't the first time he had been making jokes at the expense of NBA players.

As he explained on The Big Podcast with Shaquille O'Neal, many years ago, when Pau Gasol was new to the LA Lakers, he was seated courtside at the Staples Center.

Much like he often does, Wayans was getting off jokes while sitting on the sideline. Only this time, Kobe Bryant wasn't having it, and pulled the actor/comedian to the side, telling him to stop cracking jokes at Gasol's expense.

"I was cracking jokes on Pau Gasol, saying he looked like an ostrich that got pushed into an oil spill. I was cracking all these jokes on him and Kobe [Bryant] just turned. He said, 'Yo, chill. That may be my next ring.' And I was like, 'Alright, cool, cool.'"

The special, Good Grief, which released back in early June, is available to watch on Prime Video for paid subscribers.
