"We getting an MVP back" - Paul George amped over Joel Embiid's comeback on 76ers for Emirates NBA Cup

Podcast P hosts Paul George and Dallas Rutherford confirm Joel Embiid is returning to the Philadelphia 76ers lineup on Tuesday. Since the beginning of the 2024-25 season, Embiid has been undergoing injury management due to some issues with his left knee. The Sixers are being extra careful with their star big man to avoid any risk of a major injury.

However, after missing nine games, it appears that both Embiid and the Sixers are ready for his comeback. According to Rutherford, the star big man will make his return against the New York Knicks in Philly's first Emirates NBA Cup game. George was thrilled to finally be able to play alongside his fellow All-Star.

"We getting an MVP back," George said. "Obviously, the locker room is happy. That's definitely a mood changer. He's talented bro. I've never seen someone at his size just have that much talent as a basketball player."

Joel Embiid and Paul George set to play together for the first time

After playing five seasons with the LA Clippers, Paul George is now suiting up for the Philadelphia 76ers. His new co-star on the team is the former MVP, Joel Embiid. George's arrival in Philadelphia amped up Sixers fans, given how the duo of Embiid and Tyrese Maxey turned into a trio with "PG" now by their side.

However, the anticipation of witnessing Embiid and George playing together was somehow anticlimactic, given how the Sixers' big man wasn't available to play at the start of the season. Then there's George, who made his season debut in the sixth game.

But with George now consistently playing in the lineup and Embiid about to return, it would be interesting to see what the duo of veterans would look like. They will fittingly make their debut playing together in a more competitive matchup against the New York Knicks. Their battle against the Knicks will take place in a group-stage matchup in the Emirates NBA Cup.

So far, "PG" is averaging 14.2 points, 5.8 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. His numbers may not be up to par compared to his previous seasons, but they're still solid figures. If Joel Embiid comes back and performs the way he did last season, wherein he averaged 34.7 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.7 bpg and 1.2 spg, then the Sixers should be in good hands.
