"We like LeBron and D Wade" - Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders compare themselves to Splash Brothers and legendary Heat duo
In just his first year, Deion Sanders has turned the University of Colorado football team into a national phenomenon. The rising names in Boulder include Coach Prime's son, Shedeur Sanders, the star quarterback, while Travis Hunter is the star wide receiver and cornerback.
The two college standouts made the short trip to Denver for the Nuggets opener against the LA Lakers on Tuesday. The Colorado youngsters sat courtside and were given the star treatment.
As most young people would do courtside, the two football stars had to film a video on the hardwood. The two shared a story on social media debating which NBA star duo they compared themselves to. They had lofty comparisons.
“We like LeBron and D Wade,” Travis Hunter said. “Or like Steph and Klay,” Shedeur Sanders said.
The two young prospects have certainly made some spectacular plays this season. However, Hunter wanted to know that if they were the Splash Bros, who would get the last shot, aka who is Curry?
“Who the shooter?” Travis Hunter asked. “Me,” Shedeur Sanders said with a laugh.
Sanders is the bigger star at the moment, as the quarterback is having a standout season. Hunter, meanwhile, missed a few games with a lacerated liver.
What is Shedeur Sanders and Colorado football’s record?
Deion Sanders has certainly put Colorado football on the map once again, and Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have been a huge reason why. The team has played in some of the most dramatic games of the 2023 college football season.
However, their rising star has come crashing down a bit. The team many expected to go winless overachieved early on. Now, the Buffaloes are getting a dose of reality due to their poor defense and struggles on the offensive line.
Colorado has lost three of four after a 3-0 start. The Buffs take their 4-3 record into the sunshine of LA in the Rose Bowl to take on UCLA. The Bruins are ranked 23rd in the country and are 5-2.
It will be another tough test for Colorado. They need two more wins to reach a bowl game in the postseason. It will not be an easy road for Sanders and company.
Colorado will finish the season with four challenging games in November as it hosts No. 11 Oregon State and Arizona. The Buffs then face two tough road tests at Washington State and the season finale at No. 13 Utah. The Utah game will be their hardest game to date, and they will need to get to six wins before that one.
