"We're really in that honeymoon phase": Newlywed Giannis Antetokounmpo's wife Mariah Antetokounmpo candidly speaks about married life

Giannis Antetokounmpo spent his offseason in Greece after leading his country in the 2024 Paris Olympics men's basketball competition. The Greeks failed to get a medal but the nation rejoiced after returning to the tournament for the first time since 2008. Antetokounmpo returned to a hero’s welcome, and rightfully so.

Antetokounmpo’s busy offseason didn’t just end with the Olympics. In a chat with “People” on Sep. 23, the two-time NBA MVP confirmed he had tied the knot with his former longtime fiancee Mariah Riddlesprigger.

In an interview with “Milwaukee With Kids,” Mariah Antetokounmpo had this to say when asked about how married life has been:

“It’s been really good like they talk about that honeymoon phase in relationships? I feel like we’re really in that honeymoon phase of our marriage like everything’s just been amazing.
“It doesn’t feel different but we’re really happy and I think that’s the most important.”

Giannis Antetounmpo and his wife started dating in the mid-2010s. They largely kept a low profile until their first son Liam Charles arrived in 2020. The two became more and more open about their relationship on social media when they finally had a son.

Maverick Shai (2021) and Eva Brooke (2023) made the Antetokounmpo family bigger. When their daughter was still in her mother’s womb, the “Greek Freak” decided to make a life-changing decision and proposed.

A little over a year later, the Giannis Antetokounmpo and the “Sincerely Mariah” founder got hitched in front of family and close friends. They have been together for a long time but the recently married couple is still in their “honeymoon phase.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo and his wife Mariah Antetokounmpo are passionate supporters of Milwaukee Diaper Mission

Giannis Antetokounmpo often talks about giving back to the community as a big part of being an NBA superstar. The Milwaukee Bucks star is doing exactly that by starting “Maverick’s Diaper Mission” four years ago.

Antetokounmpo and his then-fiancee Mariah Riddlesprigger were inspired to help provide basic needs for infants in Milwaukee when their second son was born.

Starting this year, that project will work closely with “Milwaukee Diaper Mission” to have a bigger and stronger impact on the community. Mariah Antetokounmpo had this to say about the new partnership:

“Giannis and I feel incredibly blessed to be able to provide for our kids, but it’s our deep belief that no parent should ever have to choose between diapers and other essentials like food. That’s why our family is so passionate about supporting Milwaukee Diaper Mission.”
