Were Bronny James' 2 assists falsified by ESPN? NBA fans level stunning accusation regarding LeBron James' son's debut
NBA fans were quick to notice a few inaccuracies regarding Bronny James' stats during his first NBA Summer League game. James suited up for the LA Lakers for his first Summer League game against the Sacramento Kings, which was highly anticipated for a player selected with the 55th pick.
James finished the game with four points, two rebounds, and two assists. He also had one steal but wasn't highly efficient during the game as he only shot 22.2% from the field. However, eagle-eyed fans did a bit of digging into the point guard's performance, and many felt like his stats were padded.
A video on X showed two plays that showed James passing the basketball to his teammates which eventually led to a score on both instances. In the first clip, the former USC player stole the basketball, initiating a fastbreak opportunity, where he passed the ball to his teammate. However, his teammate passed the ball to the other teammate who was also running the break with them.
A play like that shouldn't have James be credited for the assist. However, many fans believe that ESPN gave the assist to the son of LeBron James. The other play shown wasn't as controversial as the first play.
The second play showed James passing the ball from the left corner. The teammate who received the ball drove to the basket with three dribbles. James was credited with the assist and fans felt that having three dribbles before making the shot could be too much to be considered an assist.
Watch the video to see the breakdown from the fans.
ESPN hasn't released a statement regarding the accusation they padded James' stats in his first Summer League game. The young point guard also hasn't addressed anything regarding the situation.

Bronny James missed his Summer League game against the Golden State Warriors
Many fans were looking forward to seeing Bronny James play in his first Summer League game. However, many were underwhelmed with his performance as he only had four points on 2-9 shooting from the field. For the Lakers' next game, which was against the Golden State Warriors, fans didn't get to see James play.
The rookie guard was reportedly out for the game against the Warriors as he dealt with knee swelling.
Fortunately, there is good news for fans who are looking forward to seeing Bronny play. The point guard is expected to play on Wednesday, as the Lakers will play against the Miami Heat.
