What happened to Steph Curry? Concerning injury for Warriors star emerges before postseason (Apr. 11)

Steph Curry exited Friday's game between the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers with an apparent hand injury. Curry suffered the blow late in the first quarter after he jammed his right hand in a Blazers player's knee. The two-time MVP headed back to the locker room, holding his right hand.

According to multiple reporters, including Anthony Slater, Curry seemingly had right thumb pain, which has bothered him throughout the season. The Warriors star played 10 minutes and scored four points before leaving for the locker room.

Golden State will hope it's not a serious issue, as the team is vying to stay out of the play-in tournament. The Warriors are in sixth with a 47-33 record.

According to the latest injury update, Curry is questionable to return with a right thumb sprain.

Warriors avoid major injury setback as Steph Curry returns

Steph Curry returned to the floor on Friday with his right thumb taped up. For the first two plays, he used his left hand to dribble up the court. However, in the next play, he shot a three with his usual right hand.

With Curry's improved production since the Jimmy Butler trade, his presence on the court has become even more critical for the Warriors. His return on Friday proved his impact as the Warriors finished the half up 13 with a 50-37 lead. He had 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Curry finished the game with 14 points, five rebounds and five assists, shooting 6 of 14, including 2 of 8 from 3. The Warriors won 103-86 and moved to sixth in the standings, improving to 48-33.

After the game, Steph Curry gave an injury update, saying the X-rays on his thumb were negative. He believes the pain will subside over time.

The Warriors will hope that's the case as they brace for the final regular-season game against the Clippers on Sunday, which will determine whether Curry and Co. achieve a top-six seed or settle for another play-in tournament finish, depending on the Timberwolves and Nuggets' results.
