She filed for divorce in June 2021, and some people still wonder why she still keeps her ex-husband's last name. In her Fanatics Fest appearance, she explained her stance on the matter, with Patriots' Jabrill Peppers responding.
When Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks expressed her excitement over the scenario of buying her son's NBA jersey in the future, La La highlighted that moment as the reason why she is keeping her current last name for a while. Her comments were shared by The Shade Room on Instagram, with Peppers posting his response in the comments section.
Peppers questioned what would happen if Carmelo Anthony decided to marry another woman and what the implications would be for La La.
Her son is still a few years away from making his NBA debut but has already generated strong anticipation for his potential, based on his performances on the basketball court at a young age.
La La Anthony talked about seeing her son's basketball development
Some analysts have already started to make comparisons between Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony and his son Kiyan when it comes to basketball capabilities. With both being impressive offensive talents, La La Anthony shared how incredible it has been to watch her son's journey unfold right in front of her, as per Yahoo Sports' Alex Galbraith.
"It's different when it's your kid," La La Anthony said. "It's just a whole different ball game. It feels like a brand new journey that I'm going on with him."
La La highlighted how this experience is vastly different from watching her ex-husband be electric on the NBA court. She could only imagine how the energy would be once Kiyan finally transitioned to the professional league.
La La Anthony praised her son's attitude amid all the spotlight surrounding him
Growing up in a household filled with popular celebrities can be an adjustment for a young child. However, La La Anthony highlighted how her son has been incredible through it all, even with the limelight he has received for his basketball endeavors, as per Yahoo Sports' Alex Galbraith.
"It's amazing how grounded he has been able to be through it all," Anthony said, "because I couldn't imagine growing up with parents that were in the spotlight or like ... people wearing [Carmelo's] jersey and people going crazy everywhere he goes."
Through all the fame, Kiyan has not let it get to his head and instead continues to focus on working to improve his craft while staying true to himself. He has received several college offers such as Syracuse, Florida State, USC, Auburn, Ohio State and Rutgers.
