What are Patrick Beverley's contract details with Hapoel Tel Aviv? Salary, duration & moreĀ
Patrick Beverley is set to continue his professional career abroad after agreeing to a deal with Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv. The defensive specialist couldn't find a permanent home in the NBA after spending two four-year stints with the Houston Rockets and LA Clippers, respectively. He failed to establish himself on multiple teams.
After his last stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, Beverley announced he was choosing between signing a veteran minimum deal and a 'historic' deal in Europe. The veteran guard picked the second option and now is set to join the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
Beverley's new deal is for two years. He will earn $4 million in those two seasons, meaning he'll be making $2 million per year with Hapoel.
It's worth noting that Beverley would have made around $3.33 million with a veteran minimum deal. He's already a 10-year veteran in the league, which would have gotten more in the association than going overseas.
Patrick Beverley previously had good experiences in Europe. He played for Ukrainian team Dnipro, Greek giants Olympiacos and Russian team Spartak St. Petersburg, respectively. It's unclear if he's doing this to get a bigger deal in the NBA, but that seems unlikely after his recent performances.
Patrick Beverley reportedly turned down offers from two NBA teams before joining Hapoel Tel Aviv
According to reporter Christos Tsaltas, Patrick Beverley received interest from both the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons. These two young teams are trying to at least compete for a playoff spot.
Beverley rejected veteran minimum deals from these two teams to go play in Israel, where he probably will have a major role than on the Rockets and Pistons.
Beverley is leaving the NBA after playing 666 games, averaging 8.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, shooting 41.7% from the field and 82.2% from the free-throw line.
He was a three-time All-Defensive player and stints with the Houston Rockets, LA Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, LA Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks.
According to Spotrac, the 36-year-old player made $82,027,846 during his NBA career. His last deal was a minimum that paid him $3.1 million, signed with the Philadelphia 76ers and completed by the Milwaukee Bucks last season.
Patrick Beverley went from being cut after the 2009 NBA Draft, to proving himself in European basketball and making it back to the league, where he played for 10 years.
