"What's this, Game 7?" - Kings announcers mock Lakers and Anthony Davis' jubilant celebrations after beating Sacramento

Sacramento Kings announcers seemed to mock the LA Lakers and Anthony Davis for their post-game celebration following their 131-127 home win against the Kings on Saturday. One announcer pointed out that streamers were falling after the win, while another questioned the extent of celebration.

The game marked the Lakers' first victory against the Kings since Jan. 7, 2023. One announcer quipped on the Kings' broadcast:

"What's this, Game 7?"

They also appeared to take a jab at the celebration, referencing Davis' first win against Domantas Sabonis after going 0-10 in their previous matchups.

"You gotta understand, this is Anthony Davis' first win against Domantas Sabonis," another announcer said.

However, according to LA Lakers writer Nicole Ganglani, the team releases streamers following every home win. She also claimed that the Kings announcers might be bitter, given Sacramento started the season 0-2 while the Lakers secured their third straight win.

LeBron James led the Lakers to victory, scoring 16 points in the fourth quarter and finishing with a triple-double of 32 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Anthony Davis added 31 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks while shooting 66.7%.

Meanwhile, Domantas Sabonis led the Kings' losing effort with his triple-double performance of 29 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, one steal and a block while shooting 71.4%.

Anthony Davis in awe as LeBron James tallies triple-double against Kings

Even in his 22nd season, LeBron James continues to dominate, as displayed in the LA Lakers' game against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.

James scored 16 fourth-quarter points including a personal 11-0 run before taking on a playmaker role for the remainder of the game to steer the Lakers to victory.

After the game, Anthony Davis praised the 39-year-old's impressive performance:

“Just when you think he’s slowing down, man, he continues to show the world why he’s the greatest,” Davis said.
“To go on that stretch, he actually looked to the bench and was trying to come out the game. We told him, ‘You’re not coming out.’ He comes out and hits another 3. He never ceases to amaze any of us because we just know what he’s capable of.”

The Lakers' 3-0 start to the 2024-25 season is their best since the 2010-11 season when they won eight straight games to begin their campaign.
