"When you ain’t do nun on the group project": Tyrese Haliburton cracks self-deprecating joke on playing just 26 minutes in Olympics

Tyrese Haliburton has received some unfair criticism over the course of the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, the Team USA guard was not letting anything bring him down after winning his first gold medal at the games. After receiving his medal, the 24-year-old shared a comical post on social media cracking a self-deprecating joke about his lack of playing time.

With a plethora of talent on the USA roster, Haliburton played just 26 minutes at the event, spending most of his time cheering his teammates on from the bench. That has not stopped him from enjoying the special moment.

In a recent post on his X account, Tyrese Haliburton is photographed with his gold medal around his neck with a hilarious message stating:

"When you ain’t do nun on the group project and still get an A."

The post has gone viral on social media with many fans applauding the Indiana Pacers guard's ability to make light of the situation. Instead of focusing on the negatives, Haliburton chose to appreciate the fact that he was part of this historic achievement alongside some of the game's greatest players.

One positive for Haliburton was that he was able to come away with eight points from the tournament, going 3/5 from the field and recording two three-pointers.

Steve Kerr did a fantastic job of rotating his lineup and ensuring that all members of the squad were able to get some minutes on the court.

The USA coach opted for experience at the competition, providing the most minutes per game to LeBron James (39), Steph Curry (36) and Kevin Durant (35), three of the team's veteran players. Tyrese Haliburton is just 24 years old and was the second youngest player on the roster behind Anthony Edwards. That may explain why he saw limited minutes at the event.

Haliburton had the fewest minutes of any USA players, managing just 26 minutes on the court. He made appearances against South Sudan and Puerto Rico during the group stage and played eight minutes in the quarterfinal win over Brazil.

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum finished with the second-fewest minutes at the Olympics with 71 over four games and his teammate Derrick White played 79 minutes.
