When is NBA MVP announced 2023? Date and time for announcement explored

With the NBA's regular season winding down, the debate around who will win the MVP award has continued to rage. Earlier in the year, Nikola Jokic was tapped to win his third straight MVP award. Since then, there has been great debate around who will win the award.

Given that, many are wondering when the 2023 MVP will be announced. This season, like many others in the past, the award will likely be handed out in June. Last year, Jokic was announced as the award winner on June 8.

As the season winds down, who do you think will win the MVP award?

The controversial MVP race

This year’s NBA MVP race has continued to be an extremely debated topic. On one hand, many have continued to call for Nikola Jokic to be crowned the MVP given that he’s currently leading the Denver Nuggets to the best record in the league. On the other hand, many feel as though Jokic was crowned too early in the season, and others deserve consideration.

Although Jokic is currently the betting favorite to win the award, the odds seem to have the MVP race being more competitive than it seems. Currently, Jokic sits as the betting favorite, with Joel Embiid right behind him, and Giannis Antetokounmpo in third place for most-favorite odds.

Of course, Embiid’s Philadelphia 76ers currently have the third-best record in the Eastern Conference, while Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks sit atop the conference. It is important to mention as well that the MVP is a regular season award, meaning that the net few weeks will mark a make-or-break point in the year for the MVP contenders.

If Nikola Jokic were to win the award, he would find himself in elite company of three-time MVPs including Magic Johnson, Larry Bird & Wilt Chamberlain. Whether or not he winds up winning the award, and how controversial his win ends up being - only time will tell.
