“When your point guard says that, you gotta deliver” - Bam Adebayo opens up on Kyle Lowry’s recent message to him
Bam Adebayo put up a monster performance against the Washington Wizards on November 25. He added 38 points and 12 rebounds in a 110-107 Miami Heat victory.
The big man opened up post-game about what motivated him to perform on Friday. He mentions that it was Kyle Lowry that got him going. Lowry asked Adebayo to step up and indeed he did.
“K-Lo said he needed me," Adebayo said. "He was feeling under the weather. When your point guard says that, you gotta deliver.”
Aside from Bam Adebayo putting up huge figures, his game was efficient at the same time. He didn't force any shots and effectively scored the basketball shooting 68.1% from the field.
His scorching hot performance helped the Heat climb up the ranks and improve their record to 9-11. Hopefully, he will continue to dominate in their upcoming games.
Looking at Bam Adebayo's Miami Heat Career so far
Bam Adebayo has entered his sixth straight season with the Miami Heat this year. The team drafted him back in 2017 as the 14th overall pick. Since his rookie season, he has already proved to be an asset to the squad. He has kept his shooting accuracy to over 50% since his first year in the NBA. His efficiency with the basketball is precisely why the Heat still has him around.
Looking at Adebayo's scoring figures from his rookie year to today, his numbers have gone up each year. His best season on paper was the 2019-2020 season when he was named an All-Star and averaged 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.3 blocks.
Given how his numbers went up the following season, it's weird how Bam Adebayo wasn't named an All-Star again. In the 2020-2021 season, he averaged 18.7 points, nine rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and one block per game. He even shot 2.7% better from the field compared to his All-Star season.
Despite getting robbed of opportunities in the league, the Miami Heat are definitely allowing him to flourish as a player. As of their recent victory over the Washington Wizards, Adebayo is averaging a career-high 19.9 points per game this season. While he hasn't made a three-point shot all season, he is still shooting an efficient 52.1% FG.
He is yet to make another All-Star appearance.
