When will Zion Williamson be back? Latest update by Adrian Wojnarowski indicates extended time off for Pelicans' forward

The New Orleans Pelicans have announced that Zion Williamson will be re-evaluated in the next two weeks, confirming that the All-Star forward will miss another two weeks due to injury.

Williamson has been out due to a hamstring strain since last playing on Jan. 2. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported earlier Wednesday that the star will miss another two weeks.

Without Williamson, the Pelicans (31-34) have struggled in the playoff race, tumbling to 10th in the Western Conference. New Orleans was 23-12 and one of the West's best teams on Dec. 30, but the Pels are 8-22 since. That included a 10-game losing skid.

Zion Williamson (hamstring) will miss a minimum of two more weeks, Pels say.

The former Duke star has missed 28 straight games, which is one of the biggest reasons as to why they're out of the playoff picture.

According to the team, Zion's injury to his hamstring has continued to heal, which is a great sign.

Williamson has only played 29 games this season, but was still voted as an All-Star starter.

Zion Williamson was recently re-evaluated for his right hamstring strain. Medical imaging revealed that Williamson’s hamstring continues to heal. His next examination will take place in approximately two weeks.

For Pelicans fans, the return of Zion Williamson was one of the most highly-anticipated events this season. He wasn't able to play for the team at all last season as he dealt with a broken foot.

The oft-injured Williamson has played just 114 games (of 291) in four seasons. Injuries also forced him to miss the team's eight postseason games last season and the All-Star Game this season.

When he was healthy this season, Williamson turned things around for the team. The Pelicans have a 17-12 record when their All-Star forward plays, which isn't impressive but still impactful.

Additionally, CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram have more options to play comfortably with Williamson on the floor. His gravity in attracting defense is extremely valuable, which could be useful if they get to play in the postseason.

Zion's presence has helped the team achieve great heights, even capturing the top spot in the Western Conference early in the season. Still, he adds a ton of value to the team and is vital to their success.
