When Zach Collins called out Klay Thompson after getting tackled to the ground - "F**k you hoe"
On February 13, 2019, Klay Thompson and Zach Collins got into a heated exchange during a game between the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers. It started when Thompson was called for an offensive foul after he shoved Collins while driving to the basket.
After the offensive foul was called, Zach Collins started hyping up the crowd. The Blazers were up three and looking to go on a run. In retaliation, Thompson trashtalked the Blazers forward. Collins responded by saying:
"F**k you hoe," Collins said.
The two got in each other's faces and went back-and-forth. The referees were forced to intervene before the altercation got out of hand.
The Portland Trail Blazers ended up winning the game 129-107. Klay Thompson finished the contest with only nine points on 2-for-16 shooting, eight assists, and four rebounds. Zach Collins, on the other hand, had only four points but was huge on the defensive end with three blocks. He also secured five rebounds in the game.
Zach Collins looking back on the heated exchange
In an interview with Jamie Hudson of NBC Sports on April 8, 2020, Zach Collins reminisced about his altercation with Klay Thompson:
"In that moment I probably said some things I shouldn’t have. But you know, I was in the moment. I was hyped. It was against the Warriors and everybody’s trying to beat them… We had been going on a run and I was just like, I didn’t care who it was — you were getting it that night if you came up to me," Collins said.
The Golden State Warriors' fanbase will always remember Collins for his heated exchange with Thompson. They still give him a hard time about it to this day:
"I got a lot of hate mail from Warriors fans. I still get it to this this day. It went on probably the rest of the year," Collins said.
