"Whose name ain't Michael Jordan": Stephen A. Smith chooses Steph Curry as 2nd greatest closer ever
Stephen A. Smith knows who he would want to take a tied game's last shot. The ESPN anchor has remained steadfast in believing Steph Curry is the greatest shooter in the history of the NBA. Smith has shared that belief on multiple occasions. It's also a widely shared belief by the wider NBA community, including fans and media.
During a recent episode of "The Stephen A. Smith Show," the 56-year-old was asked who he would want taking the last shot of a game: Reggie Miller or Steph Curry. Smith stuck to his word and chose Curry, giving a compelling case as to why that was his decision.
"I still believe Steph Curry is the greatest shooter God ever created," Smith said [1 hour 4-minute mark.] "I'm not saying he has the resume that says you take him over Reggie Miller in closing moments. I'm saying he's so phenomenal as a shooter, I can't in good conscience, pick anybody over Steph Curry with the last shot on the line, whose name ain't Michael Jordan."
Steph Curry is among the most clutch players in NBA history. He's hit multiple big-time game-winners throughout his career and will continue to be a threat in the clutch until he calls time on his Hall of Fame career.
Draymond Green reveals the reason behind Steph Curry's longevity
Draymond Green has had a front-row seat to Steph Curry's incredible career. The two have been teammates throughout the Golden State Warriors dynasty. Green believes that Curry is defying the aging process due to a burning passion for the game, and that he's currently in competition with the aging process.
"I think he's one of the most special people you would be around. I think when you look at Steph, he smiles, he's the golden child-- he's all these things, babyface assassin, you name it," Green said. "Underneath all of that, is a never dying passion that's just burning and raging. He works as hard as anybody work."
Draymond Green continued:
"Whether it is on the weight room, whether inside the basketball court and life-- he is always reading a book -- he works harder than anyone that I've seen work. You can just watch him. He is trying to defeat age," said Green.
"It is evident to me every day. Like every day and I watch him, and I was like, this dude continues to work harder and harder. Each year, harder and harder. This dude is trying to defeat age. We all know father time is undefeated, and guess what? He is beating those odds right now."
Curry is entering his 15th year in the NBA. He has been among the top players in the league for over a decade. The superstar guard won the Most Valuable Player award in 2015 and 2016. His impact on the game of basketball can be seen worldwide at every level.
Despite being in the final stage of his career, Curry is still an elite guard and the best shooter in the NBA. Green sees the work he puts in behind the scenes. Curry is still an MVP-caliber player.
