"Why me? turns into why not me?": Steph Curry's sister Sydel Curry-Lee makes poignant revelation on husband Damion Lee's 17-month injury battle

Having two brothers in the NBA, Sydel Curry's husband is also in the league. After Damion Lee played his first game in 17 months on Monday, Sydel made a lengthy post to shine a light on her husband's injury.

In October 2023, Lee had surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee. It would start a long road to recovery for him, as he would go on to miss all of last season. Lee returned Sunday in the Phoenix Suns' preseason opener against the LA Lakers.

Sydel Curry, sister of Steph and Seth Curry, took to Instagram Monday to talk about the journey Lee has been on following his knee injury last year. She praised him for his confidence and ability to see this long recovery process through.

"But there is something so inspiring about a man who know knows his purpose," Curry Wrote. "Who will take all the negatives from a situation and remember who he is. Who takes the 'why me?' and turns it into 'why not me?'”
"Getting through these past 17 months has been a battle but the confidence he has in himself is truly amazing and that’s the reason why he is who he is."

Sydel Curry and Lee tied the knot on September 1, 2018. Three years later, they welcomed their first child into the world. Just before Lee had his knee surgery last year, the couple gave birth to their second child.

Lee, who went undrafted, has spent the last six years in the league. He began his career with the Atlanta Hawks before joining forces with Steph Curry.

From 2018 to 2022, Sydel got to see her husband and brother play alongside each other on the Golden State Warriors. In his final year with the team, the two were part of a title team together.
