Why is Paul George not playing tonight vs LA Clippers? Latest on 76ers wing's injury status

Paul George will reportedly miss another game after suffering a bone bruise in his left knee. He sat out the 113-98 home win against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday and is slated to miss the second reunion against his former team, the LA Clippers, on Sunday.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday that George was listed out for the two games and will be re-evaluated on Monday.

Paul George's performance so far this season for the Philadelphia 76ers

Paul George hasn't had the best of starts to his 76ers career since he left the LA Clippers during the 2024 offseason. He has dealt with troubling injuries, which started with the bone bruise he suffered after hyperextending his left knee during an Oct. 14 preseason game.

The injury was repeated during Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, with PG apparently hyperextending the same knee.

While he has been out, the Sixers have suffered in form as they sit second to bottom in the Eastern Conference standings with a 3-12 record. The nine-time NBA All-Star averages 14.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.3 steals and 0.3 blocks per game while shooting 38.3% from the field, 81.5% from the free throw line and 27.8% beyond the arc.

Paul George finds himself lucky, as according to 76ers coach Nick Nurse, the latest repeat injury sustained was not as bad as the first time. His MRI results reportedly showed no structural damage to the affected knee.
