Why did Toronto Raptors apologize for their Women's History Month video? Understanding why fans disliked it

The Toronto Raptors have issued an apology for a video they posted on their social media regarding Women's History Month. The video has since been deleted and the organization is looking to move forward from what happened.

"Our sincerest apologies to our players, our staff and our fans -- we'll work to do better today and every day after."

Malachi Flynn and Precious Achiuwa were both included in the video and were given cringeworthy lines.

"They are the only one that can procreate," Flynn said.
"They birth everybody," Achiuwa said.

The video shows players on the team talking about how great women are and that they are the only ones able to procreate. In an attempt to pay respects to the women, the Raptors organization failed to execute their message well and was met with backlash.

Fans called it insensitive and offensive, which led to it being taken down by their social media team.

What was the message behind Toronto Raptors' video?

The Toronto Raptors' attempt to honor women failed miserably due to how their promotional video was written. Whoever gave the green light for it didn't check how other people could receive a different message. Going back to the video, Flynn and Achiuwa's lines can be misunderstood by many.

One of the big reasons why it was the wrong message is because it tells people that women only exist to procreate. That's obviously not true, and there are other aspects of life that the organization could've explored to include in their promotional video.

Luckily for the Raptors, they've made the right choice in removing the video and apologizing for it.

Can the Toronto Raptors be a playoff team this season?

The Toronto Raptors have been involved in a number of trade rumors this season. However, they remain up to rumors and the team hasn't made any major changes to their roster. Other than waiving Juancho Hernangomez, the Raptors didn't do much in shuffling their roster.

With that said, the team could make a final push to be in the playoff mix. Since the season is in its final stretch, the Raptors are trying their best to be included in the playoffs for this season. Toronto is currently ninth in the Eastern Conference and is looking to capture the eighth spot from the Atlanta Hawks.

With their momentum, they could be in the Play-In Tournament after the season ends, which isn't a bad look. At least they'll still have a chance to play in the postseason if they come out victorious during the tournament.

The Raptors will look to capture their 32nd win tonight against the Washington Wizards.
