Kyrie Irving has proven to be one of the best offensive players in the league. However, the drama that seems to constantly follow him prevents teams from pursuing a move.
His relationship with LeBron James is also questionable. Although the two made for one of the most dynamic duos during their time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, their camaraderie deteriorated rapidly.
This poor dynamic could be counterproductive for the Lakers in the long run. But given their current situation with Russell Westbrook, making a move for Irving might be a viable option.

Nick Wright suggested a trade that would involve Anthony Davis packaged in with Westbrook in exchange for Ben Simmons and Irving.
While this seems realistic on paper, it creates a host of problems for both teams that we won't delve into here.
The Lakers had previously considered making a move for Irving during his absence from the league, but they opted to give Westbrook time to integrate into the system instead.
