"Worse than my Patrick Star edit" - Larry Nance Jr. mocks Luka Doncic's Hanzo edit
New Orleans Pelicans big man Larry Nance Jr. humorously commented on a social media post that turned Luka Doncic into a character from the video game Overwatch, drawing a parallel to a meme involving himself from years ago.
Nance shared a photo posted by the SportsCenter account on X (formerly Twitter), which depicted Doncic as Hanzo, a mercenary archer from Overwatch, following his Game 4 performance.
Straightforwardly, Larry Nance Jr. remarked that the edit was so bad, it was even worse than his infamous Patrick Star edit from 2018.
Nance’s Patrick Star edit, created by Bleacher Report during the peak of the Savage Patrick meme in 2018, has become a laughingstock on NBA Twitter due to its sheer randomness.
When he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Nance drove from the corner to the basket for a poster dunk on Mason Plumlee in a highlight play. Bleacher Report edited the clip to turn Larry Nance Jr. into Savage Patrick after the dunk.
SportsCenter’s Doncic edit wasn’t as random, as the Dallas Mavericks star is known to be an Overwatch player. Last month, Doncic posted on Instagram that he had reached the top 500 rank in Overwatch 2.
Despite having time for gaming, Doncic remains stellar in this year's playoffs. In 40.8 minutes per game, he averaged 28.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 1.8 steals in his first playoff run to the finals.
Doncic helped the Mavericks secure a blowout win over the Boston Celtics in Game 4, recording 29 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. However, the Celtics still lead the series 3-1.

In an episode of Run It Back, Nance discussed how certain teams exude a championship aura that can be felt by players.
He cited the example of the Warriors team that won 73 games and lost in the NBA Finals, then added Kevin Durant, as well as the LA Lakers team that won the championship in the bubble.
“Every year, we play a certain team or teams where you’re on the court and it just feels like they're playing a different team game than us,” he said.
“When we played Boston this year, we felt like, 'you guys, there's too many options right here.’”
However, Nance noted that this year’s Celtics team is not on the same level as the Warriors team of old.
"In terms of the Warriors, I don't think any of these teams are remotely close,” he said.
