"Y’all ain’t finna be mad at me" - Video of Anthony Edwards vowing to avoid Knicks to escape NY fans' 'boos' surfaces online

The New York Knicks have long been considered one of the NBA's preeminent franchises. However, Minnesota Timberwolves superstar wing Anthony Edwards has no interest in playing in the Big Apple.

Minnesota faced New York at Madison Square Garden in an Oct. 13 preseason matchup, falling 115-110. Afterward, Edwards swapped jerseys with his ex-Timberwolves teammate Karl-Anthony Towns, who was shipped to the Knicks in a three-team trade ahead of this season.

On Monday, a video surfaced of New York fans urging Edwards to follow suit and reunite with Towns amid their jersey exchange. The two-time All-Star declined their offer, pointing out Knicks fans' propensity to boo their team when it fails to meet expectations.

Edwards added that he's bound to slip up at some point during an 82-game season. So, he would prefer to avoid the pressure of playing in New York on a nightly basis.

"Y'all ain't finna be mad at me when I have an off game," Edwards said. "... When I play bad, y'all are gonna be like, 'Boo!' 82 games I ain't gonna be good."

Edwards signed a five-year, $244.6 million rookie contract extension with Minnesota last offseason. Thus, he is locked under contract until the end of the 2028-29 campaign. So, regardless of Edwards' preferences, it will be a while before he can join a new team via free agency.

Anthony Edwards wants to spend his entire career with Timberwolves amid Knicks fans' recruitment

In addition to vowing to avoid playing for the Knicks, Anthony Edwards doesn't appear to have his sights set on joining any other organization.

During an interview with ESPN last week, Edwards touched on his desire to be a Timberwolf for life.

"If I can, I'm trying to be here for my whole career," Edwards said. "I ain't trying to go nowhere."

Edwards, 23, is only in his fifth season. So, a lot could change between now and the end of his career. However, the superstar wing is coming off his first Western Conference finals appearance. Meanwhile, Minnesota is projected to be among the top 2025 NBA title contenders. So, he appears well-positioned for the future.
