"You can’t really cuss them out" - Anthony Edwards highlights impracticality of Michael Jordan's leadership style in today's NBA

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards isn't the biggest fan of how former NBA star Michael Jordan treated his teammates. The All-Star shared his thoughts on MJ's leadership in an exclusive interview with famed comedian Chris Tucker for Interview Magazine.

Jordan struck fear into the hearts of his opponents during his time in the NBA, and even his teammates had the same feeling. Netflix's "The Last Dance" was a well-documented show that displayed how the Chicago Bulls star treated his teammates. The documentary showed how he pushed his teammates to perform at their best, almost verbally abusing them because of his competitiveness.

However, Edwards isn't the biggest fan of that method. Tucker asked the young star his thoughts about how Jordan led his teammates. The Wolves star was honest and said he doesn't think MJ's method works in the modern NBA.

"I can agree to disagree, because in today’s game, everybody’s different. You can’t talk to everybody the same. You got to talk to players differently," Edwards said. "Certain players can take it. I talk to some of my teammates like, 'Hey, get your s**t together.' But some players, you got to go talk to them on the side. You can’t really cuss them out in front of everybody."

Edwards knows which teammates he can push using tough love. However, the star guard is also aware that some of his teammates can get motivated by a different method.

Anthony Edwards shared why Kevin Durant is his favorite player

Anthony Edwards has vocalized before that Kevin Durant is his favorite player. In April, Durant returned the favor to the young guard by telling the media that Edwards is his favorite player. The two had a chance to team up together over the summer as they played for Team USA.

Edwards and Durant were bench players who focused on leading the second unit during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Fans loved every second of the two playing together for the national team. Tucker, the comedian who starred in the hit "Rush Hour" movies, asked Edwards why he chose KD as his favorite player.

"Before I met him, I felt like he was super cool, and then when I met him, I realized we are the same. All we want to do is hoop," Ant Man said. "We let our people control our stuff, but we just want to get on the court and hoop. That’s what I realized when I first got around him."
"Every time he walks in the gym, he grabs a ball and goes straight to the court before he puts his clothes on, and just starts shooting. And then off the court we’d just be chilling."

Tucker compared Anthony Edwards' situation to meeting his childhood hero, the iconic Eddie Murphy.
