"You're Kevin Durant! If you want to practice more, you can call practice!" – NBA analyst doesn’t buy Kevin Durant’s logic for asking a trade from Brooklyn Nets
After Kevin Durant revealed the main reason he demanded a trade in the offseason, social media has gone crazy. NBA analyst Nick Wright slammed the Brooklyn Nets forward, saying his reasoning was absurd.
Many were surprised when KD demanded a trade during free agency. It was especially shocking given that his friend Kyrie Irving had recently exercised his player option.
No one knew why Durant made his decision, but it was clear he wanted out. He went ahead and asked Nets owner Joe Tsai to choose between him and the duo of Sean Marks and Steve Nash.
In a recent interview with NBA insider Chris Haynes, Durant revealed that he was not happy with the way the team prepared for games. He stated that the shootarounds were favored over practices and he preferred practices.
Wright has called out KD, saying that is a silly reason to demand a trade. On "What's Wright with Nick Wright," he said:
"The other thing that I thought was, to be totally honest, ridiculous was him stating that he asked for a trade because they didn't practice enough. First of all, that is a ludicrous reason to ask for a trade.
He backed his reasoning with,
"Second of all, you're Kevin Durant! If you want to practice more you can call practice. And it's not like they were other stars on the team, no they weren't. James Harden got traded and Kyrie (Irving) wasn't there. So, they're not doing what you want at practice because they're deferring to Patty Mills? No. The idea that the reason that he wanted out had nothing to do with Kyrie, had nothing to do with the organizational upheaval, had to do with they weren't practicing enough, I just don't buy it. I flatly just don't buy it."

Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets are flying under new leadership
It has been weeks since the Nets decided to part ways with Nash and appoint Jacque Vaughn as the new head coach. In that period, the Nets have looked revitalized and are playing a different brand of basketball.
Durant has sung the praises of Vaughn, saying they are on the same page. Even without Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons, KD has led the team to a positive record.
Although they still sit 10th in the Eastern Conference standings, the Nets have a 5-4 record under Vaughn. It is a big improvement compared to their 2-5 record with Nash.
How far can Kevin Durant lead the Nets?
The Nets have not played great this season but they have elite talents who can impact games. While it is difficult to completely rule out the Nets, it is unlikely that they will make a deep run in the playoffs.
Simmons' addition was supposed to be a big boost on both ends of the floor, but the All-Star guard is not playing like his former self.
Durant has pointed out that he does not exactly have an elite squad that can win games every other night. He made the comments after their emphatic loss to the Sacramento Kings (153-121).
Nonetheless, more help is on the way for KD, as there is a chance Irving will return to action soon. The former NBA champ has missed the team's last eight games due to a suspension.
