"You're a killer": Luka Doncic comforted by Jaylen Brown in touching act of good sportsmanship after NBA Finals go viral
Jaylen Brown had a nice gesture with Luka Doncic right after the NBA Finals finished. The Boston Celtics dominated the Dallas Mavericks, winning the series 4-1, and finishing the job at home on Monday.
Brown had the task of guarding Luka Doncic during the series, and while the Slovenian star had big performances during their duel, they weren't enough to beat the well-rounded Celtics. This didn't stop Brown from giving his flowers to Doncic, calling him a killer and admitting he put on a good show.
“Luka, you’re a killer, you got the best out of me. I love you, bro," Brown admitted to Doncic after the game.
"I love you too bro," Doncic responded.
Ahead of this series, the matchups looked pretty even. The Celtics had a relatively easy path to the championship duel while the Mavericks had a tough journey to land there. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving looked inspired but so did Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
The Celtics dominated the series from start to finish and secured their 18th NBA championship, surpassing the LA Lakers as the winningest franchise in league history.
Jaylen Brown praised Jayson Tatum after earning Finals MVP honors
The Boston Celtics had a solid core that helped them win the championship against two inspired stars, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum played at a high level, taking the C's to the promised land. Brown ended up getting the Finals MVP trophy to close out a tremendous season.
Even after winning this notable award, Brown had nothing but good things to say about Jayson Tatum, another candidate to win this trophy.
"I can't speak enough about 'JT' [Jayson Tatum] and his sacrifice and his selflessness all season long. We won as a team, we played as a team, we trusted the game plan. And 'JT' was the head of that snake. For us to be where we are, 'JT' had to be who he was," Brown said.
[:57 mark]
The Celtics ended a 16-year championship drought with their win in the 2024 NBA Finals. Jaylen Brown had the difficult task of going against Luka Doncic. Still, the star didn't back down from the challenge and ended up becoming a Finals MVP after securing the same award in the Eastern Conference finals.
Luka Doncic and the Mavericks will have to keep trying to reach the promised land like Dirk Nowitzki before him.
