"You are the right guy" - NBA analyst highlights emphatic message that Giannis Antetokounmpo's $186 million extension sends to Damian Lillard

The Milwaukee Bucks are looking forward to having Giannis Antetokounmpo after giving him a three-year $186 million contract extension. Former NBA player Tim Legler tackled the positive message for Damian Lillard in relation to the recent deal with the Greek Freak.

With their recent financial move, it's clear that the Bucks aren't letting go of the 6-foot-11 power forward. Milwaukee is all in on Antetokounmpo after they gave him a multi-year contract extension. All signs have been positive for the team after they traded for Lillard during the offseason.

Legler talked about the positive impact of Giannis' new deal with the Bucks in ESPN's television show 'Get Up', saying:

"It's a calming influence for the entire organization and it sends a message to Damian Lillard, 'You are the right guy. You're the guy I've been looking for, I wanna win more championships.'"
"All along, Giannis has never been a guy to win a title or win an MVP. He wants to be the greatest to ever do it. He knows what that means.

Legler added:

"Now he has a guy next to him that he believes is going to be the impetus to go get more rings. This move sends that message to everybody. Not that it was a difficult decision to take $62 million a year for three years... This sends a statement to the entire organization, but especially to Damian Lillard."

The Bucks are trying to contend for a title, which is why they traded for Lillard. This is also the reason they secured the 2021 champion and gave him a contract extension. Although the superstar had the option of waiting for the summer of 2024 to negotiate his contract, the two parties did it as early as possible.

Giannis Antetokounmpo giving Lillard a pair of Freak 5 shows their chemistry

As part of his annual tradition, Giannis Antetokounmpo went around the Bucks' practice facility to give away sneakers to his teammates.

The seven-time All-Star didn't forget about the staff and gave his signature kicks to them as well. His new All-Star teammate even got a pair that was prepared by the Greek Freak himself.

"Hey man, I appreciate it. I really appreciate this," Lillard said.

Antetokounmpo didn't forget to ask Lillard to give him a pair of his signature shoes after handing the Freak 5.

"Make sure you give me one of yours, too," Giannis said.

Their off-court chemistry is already a positive sign that the two stars will take over the Eastern Conference. As long as the two of them are healthy, the Bucks will be a real threat this season.
