Zion Williamson injury report: Chris Haynes brings good news for Pelicans fans as the star is set to be re-evaluated next week

Zion Williamson has been out since January due to a hamstring strain. While he's been working on getting back on the court as soon as possible, Williamson faced some setbacks during his recovery phase. However, it appears that things are about to change as Chris Haynes delivered some good news for New Orleans Pelicans fans.

According to Chris Haynes, Zion Williamson's hamstring will be re-evaluated next week. Based on how smooth things have been recently during Zion's recovery, it's likely that fans will see him return in the remaining two games of the Pelicans' season. Haynes reported:

"There's good news for the Pelicans. Zion Williamson is working out on the court... He had a rigorous workout this morning. Looking good, explosive, his explosiveness is getting there. As of right now, the plan is to be re-evaluated at some point in the middle of next week."

Can the New Orleans Pelicans maintain their rank in the West before Zion Williamson returns?

The New Orleans Pelicans are currently in 8th place in the Western Conference with a 38-37 record. They're scheduled to face the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.

If the Pelicans manage to beat the Warriors, they will climb up the ladder and rank in 7th place. Given that New Orleans is currently on a five-game win streak, beating Golden State on Tuesday isn't out of the question.

If they end up losing Tuesday's game, it won't affect their rankings too much. But that doesn't mean they should be complacent. The goal for the Pelicans right now is to secure a play-in tournament spot, if not a playoff spot, before Zion Williamson makes his most awaited return. With Williamson potentially coming back next week, it would be a waste if he only ends up playing two games to end his season.

Having a healthy Williamson in the postseason will prove to be fruitful for New Orleans. Last season, Zion missed out on the playoffs due to injury and promised fans that he would make up for the lost time. If the Pelicans can hold down the fort and secure a ticket to the postseason, Williamson might finally be able to fulfill his promise.
