Zion Williamson remains coy about his favorite Thanksgiving dish: “Social media going to clown me; So no comment”
New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson may be ready for Thanksgiving, but he wasn't ready to answer questions regarding food, one of the most important aspects of the holiday. In an interview with Jen Hale after the Pelicans' game, Williamson appeared coy when asked about his favorite Thanksgiving dish.
Zion Williamson has established himself as a star in this league. As an undersized yet dominant force in the paint, Williamson presents himself as a force to be reckoned with.
Gifted with immense strength and athleticism, he continues to bully his way into the paint using his massive frame. After a tremendous performance in the Pelicans' recent outing against the San Antonio Spurs, the forward earned the rest ahead of Thanksgiving weekend.
However, Williamson was far from being in the clear.
After his spectacular outing, Williamson was interviewed by Fox Sports reporter Jen Hale. The majority of the interview focused on aspects of the game. However, with the holidays around the corner, Hale asked Williamson about Thanksgiving.
As the conversation turned towards the topic of Thanksgiving dishes, Williamson said:
"You're trying to set me up. No matter what answer I give, social media going to clown me. So no comment."
While the question was taken in good jest, Williamson had to make the executive decision to provide no answer. This decision stems from the experiences Zion has had in the past.
The All-Star forward has missed significant time in his young career due to injury. However, a major aspect of this extended period of absence has supposedly been due to his issues with staying in shape.
Zion Williamson has always been a large specimen, but this was really hammered in after his arrival in the NBA. While these issues caused delays in his recovery from injury, the young star was often criticized for his lack of discipline.
The negative impact this has had on the player has obviously left its mark. However, Williamson has since made attempts to rise above it.
Given that the Pelicans have also included clauses within his contract to ensure that he stays in good shape, both parties appear motivated towards achieving the greater goal.
Zion Williamson turns the New Orleans Pelicans into title contenders
The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the most exciting young teams in the NBA. Featuring the star duo of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson, the Pelicans are served by several talented players to add to their roster strength.
The Pelicans emerged as dark horses after their impressive run through the second half of last season. Just falling short of causing a massive upset in the first round of the playoffs, New Orleans appeared to be a team to take note of.
However, this was done without Williamson available. With the 22-year-old star back on the roster, the Pelicans could be viewed as title contenders.
Williamson has certainly been dominant to start the season. Although he has missed a few games already, the forward is notching an average of 22.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Additionally, he has averaged these numbers on 56% shooting from the field.
Zion Williamson gave the Pelicans the necessary inside force and star presence the team needed. Pairing up with a constantly improving Brandon Ingram, the Pelicans are a force to be reckoned with as they take up the third spot in the West.
