Nick Wright raises concerns for Golden State Warriors amidst Steph Curry injury: "They played Draymond & it almost felt like punishment”
On FS1’s “First Things First”, Nick Wright shared his views on the current state of the Golden State Warriors amidst Steph Curry's injury layoff.
He also laid some of the issues with the team at Draymond Green's feet, saying keeping him on the floor appears to be a punishment.

Wright did not hold back on his view of the Warriors. The FS1 analyst discussed how bad Jordan Poole’s play was against the Brooklyn Nets and talked about the young player’s weaknesses. The team did not get good play from two of the players the team needed to lean on during that game.

Klay Thompson was resting as an injury precaution so the Warriors really needed Poole and Green to step up.
Without Steph Curry, there is a hole in the offense and that requires the other players to have to pick up the slack. In a game where the Nets did not have Kyrie Irving, the Warriors still found a way to get blown out.
Jordan Poole shot 1-for-11 from the 3-point during the game and Green only provided two points in 23 minutes of play.
As Wright stated, the team was struggling when Curry was in the lineup. It was not like he was playing badly either.
Steph Curry is averaging 30.0 points per game and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 43.4% from three-point range this year. If the team was better, he could end up in the MVP conversation. But the team struggled to remain at .500 even with Curry in the line-up.
"We have open our eyes to the possibility that the Warriors are going to miss the Play-In. The Warriors are in real trouble." - Wright
The Warriors are 15-18 and have shown no ability to win on the road. They are currently in 11th place in the Western Conference standings. This team could go from championship to possibly miss the play-in game if the season does not turn around.
When can the Warriors expect Steph Curry back?
The good news about Steph Curry’s injury is that it didn’t require surgery. The bad news is that he still will be out for a while. During the broadcast on TNT Curry shared that he is far away from returning.
"I'm still in the early healing process, so I'm nowhere near, even like, picking up a basketball yet... It'll be a few weeks. I think into the New Year and I'll start to key in on a timeline from there." - Steph Curry
The longer the Warriors have to play without Curry the more trouble they could be in. Steve Kerr will have to use this upcoming homestand to try to right the ship. A talent like Steph Curry is hard to replace but they will need capable NBA players on the floor while he is out.
