Orlando Magic Trade Rumours: Aaron Gordon trade, update on Vucevic's future and more
Despite being one of the worst performing NBA teams over the past five years, the Orlando Magic entered the 18/19 season with the confidence that they could qualify for the playoffs. After all, the Eastern Conference is arguably at its weakest point for more than a decade, and the Magic currently boast a wealth of young talent in their ranks.
Nevertheless, the Magic's season hasn't worked out as planned, and there have been few improvements made on the court since the disappointing 17/18 season. With the Magic seemingly out of playoff contention, trades are likely in the next few days, and here we will look at the biggest Magic trade stories currently making the rounds.
Dallas Mavericks want Vucevic
Earlier this week, Nikola Vucevic became the first Orlando Magic player since Dwight Howard to be named in the All-Star roster. Vucevic earned the accolade after a stellar season, in which the center has averaged 20.6 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
The big man becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer, and Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News is reporting that the Dallas Mavericks want to add Vucevic during the offseason:
On the same night in which Doncic learned he did not make the NBA All-Star team, the Mavericks acquired a reigning All-Star in Porzingis and, according to a league source, now will set their sights on a summer addition of a 28-year-old center who on Thursday became an All-Star himself.
The Magic are hoping to convince Vucevic to sign a new deal with the team, although the Montenegrin may be tempted by the prospect of linking up with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. There is also the possibility that the Magic could look to trade Vucevic before the deadline, although a deal will be difficult as the 28-year-old's value is currently at an all-time high.
