Phoenix Suns injury report (Dec. 7): Rookie sensation Ryan Dunn could join Kevin Durant among absentees
The Phoenix Suns (12-9) are suffering from an inconsistent patch as the team has suffered seven losses in their last ten games. Leading the conference at the start of the season, the Suns have since been dealt with an injury crisis that has seized two key players.
Although Rookie sensation Ryan Dunn could still return to the lineup, Kevin Durant is set to miss out on a few weeks of action. The Arizona team will face the Miami Heat (10-10) in the next fixture on Saturday.
Rookie Ryan Dunn and Kevin Durant to miss out on Heat fixture
Ryan Dunn has been a great addition to the Phoenix Suns this season being drafted 28th overall. The rookie has appeared in 19 games for the Arizona team but missed out on their loss to the Pelicans on Thursday due to an ankle injury. Due to this, the rookie is listed as questionable against the Heat.
Considered one of the best defenders in the 2024 Draft class, Dunn has been instrumental for the Suns in the absence of Durant and is averaging 6.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Although nothing spectacular, the rookie is currently averaging 17.8 minutes and has only started nine games. Considering these stats, Dunn has done great for himself so far. He is also a prolific 3-point shooter and has been a huge influence in Phoenix's shooting from across the arch.
Considering that he was taken out of the game against the Spurs on Tuesday and completely rested against the Pelicans. Dunn should be in contention to start the game against the Miami Heat.
On the other hand, Kevin Durant is surely out for the fixture against the Florida team. He suffered an ankle sprain against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday and will be out for a week or two. Suffering a calf strain on November 8. Durant had just returned to the lineup on November 26 and is already ruled out once again.
The Phoenix Suns started brilliantly under Durant's leadership with an 8-1 record. However, in his absence, the team had just one win in seven games.
Projected to be out for three games, Durant should be back for the game against the Utah Jazz on Dec. 13. Having scored 32 points against the Miami Heat on Nov. 6 Durant will be a huge miss for the Phoenix side.
