Portland Trail Blazers Preview
The Portland Trail Blazers entered the new season hoping to take the final step after reaching the 2019 Western Conference Finals, although things remain largely the same.
The roster still lacks depth in certain areas, and while they have cruised against lesser teams, Portland have already been beaten by the San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Nevertheless, the Trail Blazers still possess one of the NBA's best backcourt pairings, and Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum have started the new campaign in excellent form.
Key Player - Damian Lillard
Lillard has carried his excellent form from the 2019 playoffs into the new season and the instrumental point guard is averaging 29.8 points, 7.8 assists, and 5.5 rebounds through six games. Lillard's three-point shooting is also at a career-high 40% - and he could enjoy a huge night against a depleted Golden State team.
Trail Blazers predicted lineup
Mario Hezonja, Rodney Hood, Anthony Tolliver, Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum
Golden State Warriors Preview
The Golden State Warriors were facing a tough season after losing the likes of Kevin Durant and Steph Curry's injury may have already ended their chances of reaching the playoffs. They boast a 1-5 record through six games, and while Steve Kerr's youngsters showed plenty of fight in their most recent outing against the Hornets, they still fell to an 87-93 defeat.
After tearing a ligament in his finger, Draymond Green will also miss the game against the Trail Blazers, while D'Angelo Russell is a doubt. Ultimately, the Warriors are destined for a difficult few months as opposing teams attempt to exact revenge following their recent dominance.
Key Player - Eric Paschall
If Russell sits out for the Warriors as expected, Kerr will be missing his entire starting unit. This means that a young player could step up once again, and Eric Paschall has made an impressive start to the season.
The 22-year-old posted a career-best 25 points against the Hornets after dropping 20 on the Suns earlier in the week, and the 41st pick from the 2019 draft will be out to force himself into Kerr's long-term plans.
Warriors predicted lineup
Glenn Robinson III, Eric Paschall, Willie Cauley-Stein, Ky Bowman, Jordan Poole
Trail Blazers vs Warriors Match Prediction
The Warriors swept the Trail Blazers in the 2019 Western Conference Finals, although so much has changed over the past five months that Portland enter the matchup as clear favorites.
Their backcourt pairing of Lillard and McCollum will control the game, and it is difficult to see anything other than a comfortable Blazers win over a depleted Golden State roster.
