Pros and Cons of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade reuniting in Cleveland
Not 36 hours after Dwyane Wade had agreed to a buyout with the Chicago Bulls, there were reports that the three-time NBA Champion has agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, this news will only be confirmed on Wednesday (local time) once Wade clears waivers.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was among the first to report the development.
The deal and contract details were later confirmed by The Vertical's Shams Charania.
Although not completely official, Shams Charania has proven his sources with the news he has broken this past offseason. Giving him credibility was NBA TV, who shared the news.
So with the news being more or less official, it's time to break down the deal.
Pro: Depth
A complete look at the Cavaliers' roster for the upcoming season presents a lot of questions. Not only in terms of the gelling of playing styles or rotation but also in terms of the players' injury status and health concerns. All-star Isaiah Thomas has already been ruled out of action till January with hip issues.
In the 2017 NBA Finals, the Cavaliers did have depth but most of the players at the end of the bench couldn't produce effectively against the Golden State Warriors.
Although not spectacular, they have addressed those concerns to some extent with the addition of Jae Crowder while already having J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and Richard Jefferson.
Wade's addition gives the roster that much more depth and depth that the team can actually use. A chunk of last season, Cleveland was playing short-handed and that probably cost them in the Finals. The franchise isn't taking any chances this time though stocking the roster with usable effective players.
