Reed Sheppard Stats Tonight: How did Rockets rookie perform against Pistons? (Nov. 10)
Houston Rockets rookie Reed Sheppard is still trying to adjust to the NBA games. He's had opportunities to get in contact with the level of the league, but he is not getting as many minutes as the two players drafted before him, Zaccharie Risacher and Alexandre Sarr.
The Rockets visited the Detroit Pistons on Sunday to try to improve to 6-4 and bounce back after losing to the OKC Thunder on Friday. He entered this game averaging 3.4 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, shooting 43.3% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc.
Reed Sheppard entered the game for Dillon Brooks at 2:40 of the first quarter. He got two offensive rebounds and a steal to start his journey in this game. After a shooting foul, a turnover and a missed 3-point attempt, Brooks replaced him in the game.
After playing only six minutes in the first half, he added five more in the second half. The Rockets and Pistons exchanged blows all game long, making it hard for the rookie to get more action. He still attempted three field goals, all from beyond the arc, hitting one of them. He did a little bit of everything, grabbing three rebounds, dishing two assists and recording one steal.
Sheppard keeps getting experience with the Rockets, but his minutes have been limited since the start of the season (11.4 per game). That said, Ime Udoka hasn't completely shut him down and keeps him somehow involved in games.
Check out his stats below.
Reed Sheppard's Rockets survived a hard matchup against the Detroit Pistons
The Houston Rockets visited the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena in a duel between two teams trying to contend at least for a playoff spot in the 2024-25 NBA season.
The Western Conference squad started the game with a 20-17 win in the first quarter. The Pistons bounced back with a 28-23 result in the second quarter, but once the second half started, the Rockets took over. They won the third period 29-19 and despite the Pistons' 35-29 win in the final quarter, the Rockets managed to get the 101-99 win.
Alperen Sengun was on a tear, scoring 27 points on 11-from-17 shooting from the field, adding 10 rebounds to his account. Tari Eason contributed 18 points off the bench with nine rebounds while Dillon Brooks, who plays in Reed Sheppard's position, added 14 points. Cade Cunningham responded with 26 points, eight rebounds and assists for the Pistons but it wasn't enough.
