Report: Kevin Durant questionable for Friday vs. Sacramento with sore ribs
What's the story?
Reigning NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant was announced as questionable for the team's home game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
In case you didn't know
Durant is the third Golden State Warriors' All-Star that might be out for the game on Friday. The team's starting backcourt - Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson - are already confirmed to be out, with both set to be re-evaluated on March 20th and 22nd respectively.
Heart of the matter
Durant went through his normal practice routine on Thursday but had a patch on his ribs after practice. In Wednesday night's home game, with 26 points, Durant led from the front to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers with a short-handed roster that was without Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green.
No other further details were released, regarding Durant's injury, other than this tweet by Warriors' PR:
Curry is nursing an ankle injury, something he picked up in the team's home win against the San Antonio Spurs on March 8th. It's his fourth time, this season, missing time because of problems with the right ankle.
On the other hand, Thompson is dealing with a fractured right thumb. He suffered the injury in the team's road loss on March 11th against the Minnesota Timberwolves. There is no set date on when he would return with reports suggesting, he could 'miss weeks' but as earlier mentioned, he will be re-evaluated on March 22nd.
What's next?
The Warriors have among the easiest remaining schedules in the league with three games still to be played against the Phoenix Suns and three more contests against non-Playoff teams. The first of which is on Friday against the Kings.
Author's Take
The Warriors don't seem too panicked about the recent injuries to their key players and we shouldn't either. At the end of the day, if these Warriors are healthy come Playoff time, it's going to be hard to beat them in any round of the Playoffs at home or on the road.
