Reports: NBA fines Oklahoma Thunder for $25,000 for violating injury report protocols

The NBA has dished out fines to two teams for violating injury report protocols. Reports have revealed that the OKC Thunder are one of the two.

There are several reasons as to why the league demands an accurate injury report is given ahead of time. Perhaps the most important of them is to make the game fair, in the sense that the opposition team will know what to prepare for.

However, certain teams have violated that rule, and the league has wasted no time in slapping them with fines. According to NBA PR, the LA Clippers have received a fine for not fully disclosing players who would feature in a game.

The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that the league has issued a $25,000 fine to OKC.

"Another NBA injury reporting discipline: the League has fined the Thunder $25,000 for violation when the team failed to disclose the availability of Josh Giddey in an accurate and timely manner on Nov. 1 vs. Magic."

OKC squared off against the Orlando Magic on November 1. Josh Giddey's availability was not disclosed per league standards, and the sophomore played in the game.

Although Giddey was not a big points contributor, he impacted the game and helpedhis team get the win. He finished with seven points, 10 rebounds and an assist.

The OKC Thunder are off to a flying start in their 2022-22 NBA campaign

OKC have made an outstanding start to their 2023 campaign. They have surprised the NBA community and could continue to thrive in the long run.

The Thunder have played seven games so far and have won four. At this stage last season, they had recorded only one victory.

Their road to sixth in the Western Conference standings has not been the easiest. They have taken down some of the biggest hitters in the West, including the LA Clippers (twice) and the Dallas Mavericks.

OKC have bounced back brilliantly after losing the first three games of their campaign. Although they are currently enjoying a five-game winning streak, they are not playing at full strength.

During the offseason, Chet Holmgren suffered a foot injury that will sideline him for the entire season. He was the second pick in the 2022 draft.

The rookie sustained the injury during a pickup game while trying to defend against LeBron James. Fans were excited at the prospect of seeing Holmgren play but would have to wait a bit longer.

Holmgren has beenlikened to Kevin Durant because of his height and skill level.
