Golden State Warriors rumors: Bob Myers on the radar of one Eastern Conference team
Golden State Warriors team president and general manager Bob Myers has a contract until the end of the season. Myers will be free to join any NBA team, with the latest rumors pointing to the Washington Wizards as a potential destination.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Wizards have started looking at candidates for their vacant general manager position following the firing of Tommy Sheppard last month. One of those candidates is Myers, who was responsible for constructing four NBA championship teams.
"Of course, while in Chicago, I was told that Washington had indeed registered some measure of formal interest in Myers to see if he has any interest in taking over the Wizards' front office," Stein wrote in his latest Substack. "As it stands, New Orleans' Trajan Langdon and the LA Clippers' Mike Winger are still the only known contenders under consideration for the Washington job."
C.J. Holmes of the San Francisco Chronicle reported last week that the Golden State Warriors ownership want to make Bob Myers the highest-paid executive in the NBA. However, Holmes also noted that it might not be enough to convince Myers to return.
Jake Fisher of Yahoo! Sports added that the Warriors are willing to pay Myers more than $10 million per year. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski then revealed that Myers will take some time to think about his decision and is currently torn about leaving Golden State.
Myers was hired by the Warriors to be their assistant general manager back in 2011. He was immediately promoted the next season and began assembling a championship team. He hired coach Steve Kerr in 2015, which sparked their first title in 40 years.
Golden State won three more championships under Myers in 2017, 2018 and 2022. The Warriors also made it to five straight NBA Finals appearances from 2015 to 2019. Myers' signing of Kevin Durant in the summer of 2016 remains one of the greatest free agency heists in NBA history.

Are there any other teams interested in Bob Myers?
Bob Myers' resume speaks for itself if he decides to leave the Golden State Warriors. There are going to be suitors, especially for teams looking to win a championship.
In addition to the Washington Wizards, a previous report from The Athletic noted that the LA Clippers, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns could be interested in Myers. The Clippers and Suns have not won any championships during their existence, while the Knicks' last title was in 1973.
