Golden State Warriors Rumors: Defending champions urged to trade James Wiseman for Utah Jazz centerĀ
James Wiseman made his return to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday against the Utah Jazz. Wiseman played just five minutes, scoring three points and grabbing two rebounds. The latest rumors suggest that the Warriors could trade the former No. 2 pick to Utah for Kelly Olynyk.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report floated the idea of the defending champions shipping Wiseman and rookie Ryan Rollins to the Jazz. In exchange, the Warriors would receive Olynyk. The veteran big man is having a solid first year in Utah, averaging 13.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals.
Buckley said that the Warriors cannot afford to waste one of Steph Curry's best seasons. He added that trading Wiseman could happen despite the player having many believers in the team. The 21-year-old prospect was sent to the NBA G League last month to gain some invaluable experience.
So, why should the Golden State Warriors target Kelly Olynyk? Zach Buckley explained that Olynyk has the tools to become an effective player for Golden State. The Gonzaga product is not just a shooting big man but can also make plays due to his high basketball IQ.
The Utah Jazz had a hot start to the season but have recently struggled to get wins. They were expected to compete at the bottom of the standings and could head that way through several trades before the deadline.
Olynyk is not the only tradeable player in Utah. Jordan Clarkson, Lauri Markkanen, Mike Conley and Malik Beasley have been linked with trade rumors since the start of the season. Clarkson and Markkanen are having breakout campaigns, but both are fan favorites.

Proposed trade has Golden State Warriors sending James Wiseman to Orlando
Kelly Olynyk was not the only player Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report suggested that the Golden State Warriors should target. He also thinks Golden State could deal James Wiseman, Moses Moody and a couple of second-round picks to the Orlando Magic.
The Warriors would receive Gary Harris and Moritz Wagner from the Magic. Buckley explained that Harris and Wagner would give the defending champions depth. Production off the bench has been a problem for the Warriors. Jordan Poole is struggling, while Donte DiVincenzo has failed to find his rhythm after an early-season injury.
Harris is a veteran 3-and-D player who could help improve the Warriors bench. Meanwhile, Wagner is a much better option than Wiseman based on his performances this season. It has been a tough road to consistency for the former No. 2 pick out of Memphis.
If the Warriors are not interested in those two suggestions, they might consider other players they have been linked with already. Some of the rumored players Golden State could target are Myles Turner, Jakob Poeltl, Jae Crowder and Saddiq Bey.
