Golden State Warriors Rumors: GM Bob Myers could leave the Warriors after the season, several teams interested

The Golden State Warriors dynasty was mainly built by the president of basketball operations and general manager Bob Myers. However, it seems like the Warriors could lose Myers in the offseason. The latest rumors suggest that several teams are interested in his services.

Sam Amick, Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson II of The Atheltic reported that Myers might leave the defending champions after the season. Myers only has a few months left on his contract and the Warriors have not signed him to a new contract.

Citing league sources, the trio revealed that Myers is looking for a huge payday due to everything he has done for Golden State. His resume speaks for itself, with four NBA championships since 2015. He's also responsible for convincing Kevin Durant to join them in 2016 and made the trade to acquire Andrew Wiggins in 2020.

If Bob Myers decides to leave the Golden State Warriors, The Athletic reported that he will have plenty of suitors. Some of the teams likely to show interest in Myers include the LA Clippers, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards.

The Clippers have the money to make Myers the highest paid executive in NBA history, while the allure of New York could entice him. If he can help the Knicks win a championship, that will solidify his resume even more.

Meanwhile, the Suns have new owners and could start their tenure by hiring Myers. The Wizards have several stars such as Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma. If Myers moves to Washington, he could figure out the role players needed to take the team to the next level.

While there are plenty of rumors surrounding the Golden State Warriors, Bob Myers' situation might be critical for the organization. There are only a few proven executives around the league and it would be tough to see Myers taking control of a different team.

Despite some teams showing interest in Myers, it's still possible for him to leave basketball altogether. The Athletic, citing people close to the Warriors GM, reported that Myers might want to pursue other opportunities outside the NBA.

Another reason why Myers could leave Golden State is burnout. He has been with the Warriors since 2011 and it's certainly possible that he wants to relax for the first time in more than a decade.

If Myers, as well as Draymond Green, leaves the Warriors at the end of the season, it might be the end of an era in the Bay Area.
