LA Lakers rumors: Damian Lillard shuts down trade reports with his latest rap song

Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers has been linked to the LA Lakers in one form or another over the past few years. Lillard has stayed loyal to the Blazers, but another failed season in Portland will likely lead to rumors of him asking for a trade.

However, Lillard put all the rumors to rest and proved his loyalty to the Trail Blazers even more. Dame D.O.L.L.A. dropped his newest song, "Heaven or Hell Freestyle," and shut down links to the Lakers in one of the verses.

"Plotting on a ring, they say I should do the Lakers. F*ck that loyal sh*t. What if Reggie just left the Pacers?"

Damian Lillard's message to his critics is clear throughout his new track. He's choosing loyalty over a better chance of winning a championship. He compared himself to Reggie Miller, who stayed loyal to the Indiana Pacers during his career.

Even if the Portland Trail Blazers decide to trade Lillard, it will be hard to find the right team who can offer a lot of assets. Lillard remains one of the best players in the NBA, averaging 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists this season.

The 32-year-old star guard also has a massive contract left with the Trail Blazers. He's signed through the 2026-27 season and is worth around $216 million.

The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to rebuild around Damian Lillard once again this offseason. The Blazers will have to make a decision on Jerami Grant, who will be a free agent at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if Portland can make some moves to improve the roster.

But according to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, Lillard is among the most tradeable players in the NBA this summer. Buckley pointed out that the Blazers are stuck unless they trade Lillard and reboot the franchise completely.

A Lillard trade would certainly shake up the league, especially if he gets traded to the New York Knicks or Denver Nuggets. But Lillard has pointed out over the past few years that he values loyalty more than anything, which means he won't request a trade.

In addition to Lillard, four more NBA stars could be linked to a lot of rumors this summer. They include Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards, DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls, Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors and Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
