LA Lakers Rumors Roundup: Lakers among interested teams in Zach LaVine; DeMarcus Cousins to work out with team, and more

The LA Lakers are among the interested teams in Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls. The latest rumors suggest that the Lakers are monitoring the situation in Chicago. LaVine signed a max contract in the summer, but the Bulls have been very inconsistent this season.

Meanwhile, DeMarcus Cousins is reportedly set to work out with the Lakers. Cousins played for the Denver Nuggets last season but remained a free agent throughout the summer and into the new campaign.

On that note, here's the latest LA Lakers rumors roundup for January 7 brought to you by Sportskeeda.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the LA Lakers are one of at least four teams monitoring the Chicago Bulls' situation. The Bulls are having a tough season ahead of the NBA trade deadline. It's certainly possible that they could enter a rebuild by trading Zach LaVine, a two-time All-Star.

Scotto also named the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat as potential suitors of LaVine. It was also pointed out that LaVine went to UCLA, and he's represented by Klutch Sports. The agency's CEO is Rich Paul, who also represents LeBron James.

An anonymous NBA executive told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports last month that LaVine is interested in joining the Lakers. He's averaging 23.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals this season. He's shooting 46.5% from the field and 40.1% from beyond the arc.

According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, the LA Lakers are expected to host DeMarcus Cousins for a workout. Cousins, a four-time All-Star, remains a free agent despite playing well as a backup to Nikola Jokic last season.

Haynes noted that Cousins has been working out six days a week in Las Vegas. The 32-year-old big man is looking to impress a Lakers team looking to alleviate the loss of Anthony Davis, who remains out with a foot injury.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report urged the Lakers to take a look at Cousins last month. Cousins is still a serviceable player, who averaged 8.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in 13.9 minutes last season. The Lakers and all other teams in the NBA can now sign players to ten-day contracts.

Yossi Gozlan of HoopsHype named Patrick Beverley as one of several players who could benefit from getting traded before the February 9 deadline. Gozlan explained that Beverley has been inconsistent with the LA Lakers this season following his acquisition in the offseason.

Beverley was mentioned as a possible trade candidate by The Athletic for players such as Bojan Bogdanovic of the Detroit Pistons and Cam Reddish of the New York Knicks. If he gets traded, it's possible that he would get waived and become a free agent.

Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reported last month that Beverley wants to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves if he gets waived. Beverley helped the Timberwolves win the play-in tournament and qualify for the playoffs.
