LA Lakers Trade Rumors: Anthony Davis has received interest from multiple teams
Anthony Davis has hit the ground running for the LA Lakers since returning to the court. With Thursday's NBA trade deadline rapidly approaching, the Lakers are looking to upgrade their roster for the stretch run this season.
In his last five games, Davis, who was sidelined from Dec. 18-Jan. 25 with a foot injury, is averaging 25.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 49.0%.
The LA Lakers (25-29) are expected to be one of the league's most active teams in the trade market. According to NBA insider Sam Amico, it appears that the Lakers are also getting calls as well, but they aren't intersted in dealing Davis.
"Several teams have reached out to the Lakers on Anthony Davis, per Sam Amico ... 'The Lakers are quickly shooting down any such talk, sources added,'" NBA Central tweeted.
Anthony Davis and the LA Lakers look to make a push in Western Conference
It shouldn't be a surprise to see that the LA Lakers are refusing any potential discussions involving Davis.
On one hand, Davis has struggled to stay healthy throughout his tenure with the Lakers. However, the Lakers are unlikely to receive fair trade value in exchange for Davis. With superstar LeBron James not getting younger, the Lakers know they need to be strategic with their additions to the roster.
Davis is having one of his best seasons as a member of the Lakers. Before suffering an injury, Davis looked like a player deserving of hearing his name in MVP conversations.
The Lakers have the talent and tools to make a serious push towards a spot in the NBA playoffs in the Western Conference. The hope is that the team can make some strategic additions around the deadline and stay healthy for the last part of the 2022-23 season.
