NBA Rumors: Miami Heat discussed potential deal involving John Collins and Duncan Robinson

Recent NBA rumors have seen the Miami Heat discuss trades for John Collins and Duncan Robinson. Considering Miami's need for a power forward and their intent to trade Robinson, Heavy.com's Sean Deveney presented reports of the two parties engaging in trade talks.

The Heat have long been on the trade market to move Duncan Robinson. Although they have made several attempts to move the sharpshooter, Miami have had a rather difficult time finding potential takers.

The Miami Heat have engaged in trade discussions with several teams, including the Phoenix Suns. However, the Suns declined any offers almost immediately.

This has primarily alluded to Robinson's expensive contract. Considering that several executives across the league believe that he is overpaid, the sharpshooter has been a difficult asset to move.

A similar situation has emerged in Atlanta, where the Hawks have attempted to move John Collins. Unfortunately, Collins' contract has made it quite difficult to facilitate a trade.

Miami and Atlanta have also reportedly been linked in trade talks. With Robinson and Collins being the primary assets in the discussion, the Heat reportedly proposed to include forward Caleb Martin in the deal as well.

Martin is currently the Heat's best trading chip. To include him in the pursuit of a four only highlights their need for a quality power forward. As per Sean Deveney, the Heat were also willing to include an unprotected first-round pick for Collins.

Unfortunately, Deveney also mentioned that these talks have since gone dormant. He mentioned some of the details of the discussions when he wrote:

"They had discussions with Atlanta about John Collins that have since gone dormant, a deal that would potentially send Duncan Robinson and Martin to the Hawks (perhaps with a protected draft pick). Those talks could be rekindled, though there is concern among some with the Heat that Collins and star big man Bam Adebayo would not be a great fit."

Rekindling trade talks would certainly be in Miami's best interest. However, the concerns regarding John Collins' fit next to Bam Adebayo are quite valid.

With the trade still hanging in the balance, the Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks will keep their options open.

The Miami Heat are still in talks for Jae Crowder

The Miami Heat have shown an interest in Phoenix Suns forward Jae Crowder for a long time. With Crowder sitting out the season until he is traded, Miami have made several attempts to trade for the former Heat forward.

Although the Phoenix Suns outright declined Miami's trade offer for Crowder, the Heat have left a standing offer for the Suns. Deveney revealed this as per an Eastern Conference executive, who said:

"Phoenix wants to bring things closer to the deadline, to see if someone gets desperate, to see if they can do better or get Miami to add a pick. The Heat are going to do something big, and adding Crowder is probably the starting point, like the least thing they would do."

The Phoenix Suns are in a rather desperate position themselves. Having lost several games in the last few weeks, the Suns are in virtual free fall. Considering the gravity of the situation, the Miami Heat can certainly make the most of it.
