NBA Trade Rumors: Boston Celtics could entice Brooklyn Nets with Marcus Smart and 1x All-Star if they enter Kevin Durant sweepstakes
Kevin Durant has been a constant feature in basketball headlines ever since he requested a trade away from the Brooklyn Nets. Many teams are rumored to be interested in a trade for the former MVP.
According to Michael Scotto, the Boston Celtics could use their resources to land the two-time champion. The reigning Eastern Conference champions will have to let go of Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown, who were pivotal in their run to the NBA Finals.
Under Ime Udoka, the Celtics showed immense grit and determination to make it to the NBA Finals last season. They fell to the mighty Golden State Warriors in the finals. Now that they have a chance to land Kevin Durant, it will be interesting to see if they make a move or stick with their young core that's carried them this far.
Is Kevin Durant the right fit for the Boston Celtics?
Kevin Durant has a skillset that makes him valuable to any team in the NBA. He is a certified scorer and teaming him up with Jayson Tatum would certainly make the Celtics a force to be reckoned with. Both have a lot of respect for each other's game and would certainly get the best out of one another.
At 24, Jayson Tatum still has a lot to learn and having a player like Durant on the team would be invaluable. However, that could mean losing two key players in Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, who have been with the team for a while.
It is also important to note that Durant's preferred destination is either Phoenix or Miami. As such, Boston may end up focusing on other targets.
