NBA Trade Rumors: Warriors reassessing Jonathan Kuminga & other young star's trade value in pursuit of key star

Although the Golden State Warriors got off to a hot start this season, winning 12 of their first 15 games, they are 2-9 since Nov. 23. With the team looking to make the most of the remaining years on Steph Curry's contract, ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel reported on Friday that the Dubs are willing to discuss trading their young core of Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski.

With the new year right around the corner and February's trade deadline nearing, the team has reportedly been "ramping up" their activity on the trade market.

“There is more of a willingness to discuss their young core of Kuminga, Moody, and Podziemski in trade discussions than ever before,” Siegel wrote.

This comes amid rumors that the Warriors are looking to acquire a superstar before the trade deadline. With several potential options on the table, it appears their front office is willing to consider moving one or more of their young pieces to keep the team competitive.

Golden State is on a three-game slump, including a 144-93 blowout loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday. The team has dropped to 10th in the Western Conference.

After placing an untouchable tag on Podziemski last summer, Golden State is likely gearing up to make a big move.

While it's unclear how things will play out between now and the Feb. 6 trade deadline, there are plenty of options for Golden State's front office to explore.

The most widely-discussed name has been Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler; however, NBA insider Monte Poole seemed to pour cold water on the idea.

“Everything that I’ve heard, whispered, rumored, all combined leads me to believe this is like a move that the Warriors are not inclined to make," Poole wrote on Thursday. "From what I’m hearing, the reasoning is that they’re a little skittish about his availability. He misses a lot of games. That’s the problem that he ran into with Pat Riley in Miami.”

FanSided's Michael Saenz wrote on Wednesday that if the Warriors want to make a move without dealing their young group of Podziemski, Moody and Kuminga, they could look to acquire Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. who has been rumored to be part of the Zach LaVine trade talks.

There have also been plenty of discussions around the team needing a true starting center. Given that Chicago has repeatedly tried to trade Nikola Vucevic, the two teams could look to engage in trade talks ahead of the deadline.
