Shannon Sharpe comments on mediocre game for Luka Doncic in a loss against Boston Celtics: “Only Wilt can do that”

Luka Doncic has become one of the most dangerous offensive players in the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks superstar has become a nightmare for opposing teams on a regular basis.

A number of superstars throughout the NBA have been playing at an elite level during the 2022-23 season. But Doncic has been making a very loud case to be a contender for the league's Most Valuable Player award. The Dallas Mavericks took on the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. Heading into the game, Doncic produced a jaw-dropping display over the stretch.

In his previous six games, Luka was averaging 44.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. During that stretch, Doncic shot 56.2% from the field and 42.9% from three-point range.

Dallas lost Thursday night's game against the Boston Celtics by a final score of 124-95. For Doncic, it was a "come back to reality" performance. He finished with 23 points, nine rebounds, and three assists on 7-of-23 shooting.

Appearing on "Undisputed," analyst Shannon Sharpe tipped his hat to the Celtics for slowing down Doncic. Sharpe also said he wasn't expecting Luka to continue his insane production, joking that Doncic isn't NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain. "Only Wilt can do that," Shape said.

“I didn’t expect Luka to continue on this streak where he’s averaging 45 points, only Wilt can do that. Luka had an off night, give Boston credit.” said Shannon Sharpe

The Dallas Mavericks found themselves at 16-16 after a win on December 21st, against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Since that night, superstar Luka Doncic has taken his game to another dimension.

Doncic has been a highlight machine over Dallas' last six games. While the 23-year-old has been dominating on the court, the Mavericks have continued to rack up wins.

Thursday night's loss to the Boston Celtics ended a seven-game winning streak for the Mavericks. The team now sits at 22-17 and will look to bounce back this Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The game will be an opportunity for the Mavericks to cover some ground in the Western Conference standings. Dallas is currently in fourth place and remains 2.5 games behind the Pelicans for third.
